Precision Site Engineering was commissioned to undertake the precise setting out of steel frame bolt groups for a major development at Henlaw, Northumberland. The project comprised two steel portal frame buildings measuring approximately 97 metres and 85 metres in length respectively.
Over the course of a week, the team set out and verified more than 70 individual four-bolt foundation jigs positioned within newly constructed concrete foundations. Due to the demanding tolerances associated with steel frame construction, accurate bolt placement was critical to ensure the successful erection of the steel structures and avoid costly remedial works.
Using a GeoMax 1-second robotic total station and a carefully established site control network, Precision Site Engineering achieved positional accuracies of less than 5mm across the project. Each bolt group was checked and verified prior to steel installation, ensuring full compliance with the design requirements and providing confidence for the subsequent construction phases.
The project demonstrates Precision Site Engineering’s ability to deliver high-accuracy engineering setting out services on construction projects where precision and quality control are essential to successful project delivery.
